PROFILE

Franziska Kuba (*1991) studied music and history education in Leipzig before graduating in choir conducting in Weimar under Profs. Jürgen Puschbeck and Gunter Kahlert. Currently, she studies early-music singing in Leipzig under Gundula Anders to expand her knowledge in old music and singing. She participated in masterclasses under Profs. Jörg-Peter Weigle, Michael Gläser, Thomas Eitler-de Lint and Morten Schuldt-Jensen. In this context she worked with choirs such as the NDR-Chor, the opera choir Leipzig and the Philharmonischer Chor Berlin. Since 2017, Franziska Kuba is scholarship holder of the Dirigentenforum of the German Musikrat. In 2018, she qualified for the international masterclass of the Rundfunkchor Berlin under Gijs Leenars and Stefan Parkman. In her freelance work she has been working with the Vocalconsort Leipzig since 2015 and was finally announced as its choirmaster in 2018. Since 2016, she frequently prepared the GewandhausChor musically for conductors like Gregor Meyer, Andris Nelsons or Herbert Blomstedt. She lectures choir conducting at the Musikhochschule Freiburg for Prof. Frank Markowitsch. In 2017, she assisted the music director of the Opera Festival in Immling, Cornelia von Kerssenbrock. Furthermore, she was the choirmaster of the Swakopmunder Musikwoche in Namibia. For the season 2018/2019, she is the choirmaster for a production of Goethe’s Faust at the Schaupielhaus Leipzig under the direction of Enrico Lübbe and the composer Peer Baierlein.
