Biography
Franziska Kuba ist Professorin für Chorleitung an der HfM Detmold. Zuvor hatte sie einen Lehrauftrag an der HfM Freiburg inne. Sie studierte Schulmusik, Geschichte, Chordirigieren und Gesang in Leipzig und Weimar.
Sie leitet seit 2018 den Kammerchor Vocalconsort Leipzig, mit dem sie regelmäßig ambitionierte Programme erarbeitet und im In- und Ausland konzertiert. Zudem gründete sie im gleichen Jahr das Ensemble Neue Kammer, das sich in performativen Konzerten auf zeitgenössische und alte Musik spezialisiert. Mit diesem Ensemble verwirklicht sie ihr besonderes Interesse an zeitgenössischer Musik und publikumszugewandten Konzertformaten. Das Ensemble war Stipendiat des deutschen Musikrat und Podium Gegenwart.
Als freie Dirigentin führten sie bereits Engagements an zahlreiche große Häuser. Darunter das Konzerthaus Berlin, das Theater Heidelberg im Zuge des Festivals „Winter in Schwetzingen“, der WDR-Rundfunkchor und der Rundfunkchor Berlin. Ab 2025 übernimmt Franziska Kuba die künstlerische Leitung der Bayerischen Chorakademie, welche den Landesjugendchor Bayern und die Bayerische Singakademie umfasst. Sie hatte 2022-2023 die kommissarische künstlerische Leitung des Landesjugendchors Thüringen inne. Zudem ist sie in diversen Produktionen am Schauspiel Leipzig als Bühnenmusikerin und Chorleiterin zu sehen.
Franziska Kuba war Stipendiatin des Forum Dirigieren und wurde 2021 beim deutschen Chordirigent*innenpreis mit dem RIAS-Kammerchor mit dem Publikumspreis ausgezeichnet.
Franziska Kuba is professor of choir conducting at the HfM Detmold. She previously held a teaching position at the HfM Freiburg. She studied school music, history, choir conducting and singing in Leipzig and Weimar.
Since 2018, she directed the chamber choir Vocalconsort Leipzig, with which she regularly develops ambitious programs and gives concerts at home and abroad. In the same year she also founded the Neue Kammer ensemble, which specializes in performative concerts on contemporary and early music. With this ensemble she realizes her special interest in contemporary music and audience-oriented concert formats. The ensemble was a scholarship holder of the German Music Council and Podium Gegenwart.
As a freelance conductor, she has already performed at numerous major venues. These include the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Theater Heidelberg as part of the “Winter in Schwetzingen” festival, the WDR Broadcasting Choir and the Broadcasting Choir Berlin. From 2025, Franziska Kuba will be the choir director of the Bavarian Choir Academy including the Bavarian Youth Choir and the Bavarian Singing Academy. In 2022-2023 she was the interim director of the Thuringia State Youth Choir. She can also be seen in various productions at the Schauspiel Leipzig as a stage musician and choir director.
Franziska Kuba was a scholarship holder of the Forum Dirigieren and was awarded the audience prize at the German Choral Conductors' Prize with the RIAS Chamber Choir in 2021.
In order to save the classical music scene, it seems to make sense to involve the audience.
